Seaman 1st Class Roy Walmyre Anderson, to whom this letter was written, was killed aboard the SS Paul Hamilton on April 20 1944 off the coast of Algiers, North Africa. The SS Paul Hamilton had a loss of 580 personnel, all hands were lost.
