Naval Covers

Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

Other Information

NAMESAKE - Named for the Tinosa, a poisonous, black, tropical fish.

There have been two ships of the US Navy that have borne the name TINOSA - USS Tinosa SS-283 and USS Tinosa SSN-606.

Ships sponsor was Mrs. Samuel B. Stratton, the wife of Congressman Samuel B. Stratton of New York.
