This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

NAMESAKE - Named after the San Diego seaside community which has a long-standing naval presence and is home to Naval Base Point Loma, comprised of six installations, which provides support to 70 US Pacific Fleet afloat and ashore-based tenant commands headquartered on the base.
The ships sponsor is Mrs. Elizabeth Asher. Asher, who holds a bachelor of arts degree in art history from the University of Maryland at College Park, lived in Point Loma with her husband, Naval Academy graduate and retired Navy physician Dean Asher, while he served on the US Navy attack submarine USS La Jolla SSN-701.
Two ships of the US Navy have borne the name POINT LOMA - USNS Point Loma AGDS-2 and USNS Point Loma T-EPF-15.
