on the ship's hull would have been "CG 82338" (as seen in standard photos of this class for this time period).]

image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information
The IMDB entry for TV series "Quincy, M.E." episode Scream to the Skies that aired Feb 11, 1981, states that:
"The Coast Guard vessel that Quincy boards is USCG WPB-82338, Point Bridge, an 82-foot patrol boat placed in service 1962 and sold to Costa Rica in 2001."
A post on sitcomsonline asserted that:
"...the name of the coast guard cutter that rescued the [Gilligan's Island] castaways was Pt. Bridge."
Caveat: I have not seen any other evidence that supports this assertion.
Additional Naming History Sources
Per the U.S. Coasts Guard:
"WPB 82301 through 82344 were commissioned without names; at that time the Coast Guard did not name patrol craft shorter than 100 feet.
In January 1964 they were assigned names."
