Other Information

USS LISCOME BAY earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 1 Battle star and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

Doris (Dorie) Miller, the first black American to be awarded the Navy Cross for Gallantry for his actions during the Pearl Harbor attack was lost with the ship.

NAMESAKE - Named for Liscome Bay in Dall Island in the Alexander Archipelago off Alaska's southeast coast.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Ben Moreell.
