Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

NAMESAKE - Lieutenant General John Archer Lejeune, USMC (January 10 1867 - November 20 1942)
Lejeune's Marine Corps service began July 1 1890 and finished as the 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps from June 30 1920 to May 5 1929. After retirement, Major General Lejeune served for 8 years as Superintendent of the Virginia Military Institute. In February 1942, he was appointed Lieutenant General on the Marine Corps Retired List
