This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.


    CPL Louis J. Hague Jr., Class Maritime Propositioning Ship
    Built by Odense Staalskibsvaerft A/S, Lindo, Denmark, as MV Emilie Maersk in 1979

  1. EMILIE MAERSK (Commercial Service)
  2. Owned and operated by the Maersk Line
    Acquired by the US Navy under a long-term charter in 1984
    Converted at the Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point, Massachusetts to a maritime prepositioning ship
    Conversion completed in September 1985

  3. 1ST LT ALEX BONNYMAN T-AK-3003
  4. Placed in service under the direction of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) September 26 1985, operated by Maersk Line Ltd.
    Struck from the Naval Register in 2009 and sold for scrapping in August 2009

    Fate unknown

Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

NAMESAKE - First Lieutenant Alexander (Sandy) Bonnyman, Jr., USMCR (May 2 1910 - November 22 1943).
1st Lt Alexander Bonnyman, Jr., USMCR, Executive Officer of the 2d Battalion, 8th Marines' Shore Party, was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for extreme bravery during the assault on the Japanese bombproof shelter on D+2, Betio Island, Tarawa Atoll, Gilbert Islands.
In addition to the Medal of Honor, Lt. Bonnyman was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.
