Naval Covers

USS FIREDRAKE earned the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), the Korea Service Medal w/ 4 Battle stars, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (3 awards), the Vietnam Service Medal w/ 6 Campaign stars, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the Philippines Liberation Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A fire-breathing dragon of Germanic mythology.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. R. M. Kitchins.
