Acquired by U.S. Navy September 13 1918


2. USS EURANA ID-1594
Commissioned September 13 1918
Assigned to the Naval Overseas Transportation Service (NOTS)
Decommissioned October 9 1919
Transferred to the Army for return to her owner 1919

Lloyd's Register of Shipping 1920 lists the owner as: "The Green Line" with prior listed owner (The Nafra Co Inc) crossed out
Lloyd's Register of Shipping 1929 lists the owner as: "Planet Steamship Corp"


4. ALAMAR (Commercial Service)
Sold to Calmar Steamship Corp (date unknown)
Renamed in 1930

Bombed approximately 100 miles southeast of Bear Island 27 May 1942 by German Stuka dive bombers
Torpedoed and scuttled by the British submarine HMS Trident (N 52) as a hazard to navigation.

Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.
