Other Information

USS ALBEMARLE earned the American Defense Service Medal w/ Fleet clasp, the American Campaign Medal, the Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named for a town and a Sound in North Carolina and a county in Virginia. All three were named for General George Monck, the first Duke of Albemarle and one of the original Carolina proprietors.

Three ships of the US Navy have borne the name ALBEMARLE - USS Albemarle (1863 Schooner), USS Albemarle (1865 Ironclad) and USS Albemarle AV-5.

USNS CORPUS CHRISTI BAY earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named after the bay of Corpus Christi, TX

Three ships of the US Navy have been named for the city of Corpus Christi, TX or related areas - USS Corpus Christi PF-44, USNS Corpus Christi Bay T-ARVH-1 and USS City of Corpus Christi SSN-705.
