Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). Other Information

USS COGHLAN earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 8 Battle Stars and the WWII Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Rear Admiral Joseph Bulloch Coghlan, USN (9 December 1844 - 5 December 1908).
Coghlan graduated from the Naval Academy in 1863. He served in Sacramento during the Civil War and led the expedition which captured the batteries at Cavite (May 2 1898) and at Isla Grande, Subic Bay (July 7) during the Spanish-American War. He was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1902 and died at New Rochelle, N.Y.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. G. Coghlan.

Two ships of the US Navy have been named in his honor - USS Coghlan DD-326 and USS Coghlan DD-606
