This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

Balao Class Submarine Keel Laid 16 March 1944 - Launched 25 February 1945 USS CLAMAGORE SS-343 Commissioned 28 June 1945 Converted to a Guppy II submarine Dec. 1947 - July 1948 Converted to a Guppy III submarine May 1962 - Feb. 1963 Decommissioned 27 June 1975 Struck from the Naval Register 27 June 1975 Donated as Museum Ship at Patriot's Point, Charleston, SC 11 May 1981. On 10 January 2017 the Palm Beach County Commissioners voted unanimously to     approve funds for the vessel to be sunk as an artificial reef.

USS CLAMAGORE earned seven Battle "E" awards during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A blue parrot-fish found in the West Indies and Chesapeake Bay.

The ships sponsor was Miss Mary Jane Jacobs, daughter of Vice Admiral Randall Jacobs, USN, Chief of Naval Personnel.
