CD Nine
Covers should be listed in chronological order. Use
the postmark date or best guess. This applies to covers with add-on cachets as well.
CD-9 -- (2001)
A CD-9 postmark is similar to a Type 12 postmark except that it has 4 killer bars. The name of the ship (and other possible data) appears between the double outer circle of the cancel and the date is in a straight line across the center of the dial. First known appearance was in 2001.
(USCS CATALOG of UNITED STATES NAVAL POSTMARKS, Fifth Edition, 1997)
NOTE
The Type 13 was initially typed as CD-9 but after further consideration, and more examples reported, the cancel was renumbered as Type 13 by the Postmark Committee of the USCS on July 25 2008.
