22 March 1933 letter to W.O. Wylie seeking to replenish supplies and stock which was ruined during the Long Beach earthquake just 12 days earlier. I strongly suspect that this is Willard Otis Wylie that was a stamp dealer in Beverly, Mass. and part of the publishing team of Severn-Wylie-Jewett Co. that published Mekeel's Weekly Stamp News..

Merit Award earned by Walter Crosby at the 2nd Annual Philatelic Exhibition in Long Beach April 1932 - "Stamps of Tonga Island”.

Certificate awarding membership to Walter Crosby by the Cabrillo Day Association is signed by a number of community members that contributed to the social, economic, and financial development of the San Pedro/Long Beach region. Note: Walter retires (Chief Gunners Mate) from active duty 7 June 1920, settles his family in the area, and becomes active in planning the first Cabrillo Day celebration scheduled for Oct. 1920. The “Cabrillo Days” celebration is timed to coincide with an open invitation for the public showing of the Chief Petty Officers Club with a membership of about 800. The Pacific Fleet is to be in port and participating in the celebration. (San Pedro News Pilot Vol. 7 No. 282, 4 Sept. 1920) I suspect that Walter was a leader in the club and impresses civic leaders, thus in the second year of celebration (1921), he is invited to be an official member of the committee (receives the certificate 1 Oct. 1921) responsible for producing the event.

Earle Ovington personally autographed postcard to W.G. Crosby which contains a rubber stamp confirming the date of the first air mail flight of 23 Sept. 1911 made by Covington and that a notation made in Aug. 1930 indicating that the woman in the picture was Mrs. Covington and that the airplane in the background is a Bleriot Monoplane.
