Naval Covers

Other Information

USS TUSCALOOSA earned the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/ 4 Campaign stars, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal during her Naval career.
USS Tuscaloosa also received two Letters of Commendation from the Secretary of the Navy

NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Two ships of the US Navy have borne the name TUSCALOOSA - USS Tuscaloosa CA-37 and USS Tuscaloosa LST-1187.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Margaret H. Connolly, wife of Vice Admiral Thomas F. Connolly, Jr., Connolly was an Vice Admiral in the United States Navy, a gymnast and Olympic medalist in the 1932 Summer Olympics.
