After the Department of Defense was organized in 1947, planners in the Pentagon decided to try to dispose of the individual service day celebrations and replace them with one "Armed Forces Day." The first observance was in 1950, and today some bases still celebrate the holiday on the third Saturday in May with an open house or demonstrations.

Covers should be listed in chronological order. Use the postmark date or best guess. This applies to covers with add-on cachets as well.
