  10. Converted to a dry cargo carrier in 1954 at Schiedam (Netherlands) and renamed
    Owner listed in Lloyd's Register of Shipping as "Isla Navarino Cia. Naviera, S.A."

  11. ANDROS SEAFARER (Commercial Service)
  12. Sold in 1957 and renamed
    Owner listed in Lloyd's Register of Shipping as "Transmarine Navigation Inc."

  13. SAN PABLO (Commercial Service)
  14. Sold in March 1963 to Caroline Navigation, Inc., Panama and renamed
    Sold in 1966 to Narrows Navigation, Inc.

    Scrapped March 1969 at Kaohsiung, Taiwan

 

Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). Other Information

USS KANGAROO earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ Asia clasp during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Any of a family of herbivorous, leaping, marsupial mammals of Australia, New Guinea, and adjacent islands.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Rufus C. Harris.

There have been two ships of the US Navy that have borne the name KANGAROO - USS Kangaroo SP-1284 and USS Kangaroo IX-121.
