Embossed 6 cents airmail envelope (UX 18) used by A.H. Waite aboard ATKA has stamped OSC / 1955 Antarctic Expedition with ship’s 2L marking - "FIRST DAY COVER / LITTLE AMERICA". Reverse has Waite’s double penguin “Signal Corps” cachet, signature and 2L marking - "ROUNDED / CAPE HORN" with ship’s type 2r cancel, dated 6 FEB 1955 while she was searching for possible sites along the coast of Marie Byrd Land.
