Mississippi Squadron Prize Court Papers. Four legal-size covers, all related to the capture of the steamer MATTIE COOK by the USS Neosho, the first cover has "U.S. Mississippi Squadron, Official Business" two-line imprint, addressed to Hon. S. H. Treat, U.S. District Judge, Springfield Ill., with original letter on "Mississippi Squadron, Flag Ship Black Hawk" letterhead, datelined Mound City Ill., Aug. 16, 1864, signed by Capt. Alexander M. Pennock (later Rear Admiral), refers to the reports contained in three other covers, two with Mississippi Squadron Rear Admiral imprints (no contents), one with manuscript endorsement (letter content), Aug. 23 and Sep. 19, 1864 filing notations, Very Fine group.
