Other Information

USS WALDRON earned 4 Battle Stars for WWII service and 1 Battle Star for Vietnam service

NAMESAKE - Lt. Comdr. John Charles Waldron, USN (August 24 1900 – June 4 1942).
Lt. Comdr. Waldron commanded Torpedo Squadron 8 (VT-8) during the Battle of Midway. He was killed in action and was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross. Torpedo Squadron 8 earned the Presidential Unit Citation for their actions at Midway.

The ships sponsor was Miss Nancy Waldron.
