Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information
USS MERVINE received three battle stars for World War II service
NAMESAKE - Rear Admiral William Mervine, USN (14 March 1791 – 15 September 1868).
His career included service in the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War (1846-48) and the American Civil War.
Two ships of the US Navy have been named in his honor - USS Mervine DD-322 and USS Mervine DD-489/DMS-31.
