Other Information

USS RAINIER has earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal as of 2016.

NAMESAKE - Mt. Rainier, Washington.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Suzanne P. Dicks, wife of Representative Norman D. Dicks of Washington.

Three ships of the US Navy have borne the name RAINIER - USS Rainier (Schooner 1917-1919), USS Rainier AE-5 and USS Rainier AOE-7.
