This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

SALT LAKE CITY earned 11 Battle Stars (WWII)

Earned Navy Unit Commendation for the Aleutian Campaign

NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Salt Lake City, Utah which has served successively as the capital of the Provisional State of Deseret, the Territory of Utah, and the 45th state

Two ships of the US Navy have honored this city, USS Salt Lake City CL/CA-25 and USS Salt Lake City SSN-716
