This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

NAMESAKE - Ensign Horace Ancel Bass Jr. USN (September 22 1915 - August 24 1942)
Ensign Bass was awarded the Navy Cross for combat air patrols off the USS YORKTOWN CV-5 during the Battle of Midway June 4 1942. Flying off the USS SARATOGA CV-3 Ensign Bass was killed in action August 24 1942 after being shot down during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, Guadalcanal
