Other Information
USS CORE earned the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/ 1 Battle star, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ "Asia" clasp during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Named for Core Sound, North Carolina.
The ships sponsor was Mrs. B. B. Smith, wife of Lieutenant Commander Smith.
