Cachet incorrectly names the ship "Fort Lane" and designates her as USS
William H. Lane (Hull No. 3111) was a Liberty Ship built as a Maritime Commission EC2-S-C1 hull. She was a 441 foot Freighter of the Liberty Class with her keel being laid on February 5 1945. William H. Lane was loaned to the French government in 1945 and was sold outright to the French in 1947. Under the French flag she was renamed "Port en Bessin". She was scrapped in 1968.
