Other Information

USS CASINGHEAD earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Casinghead is an oil field term which signifies the means by which several sizes of casing are tightly connected below the derrick floor at the top of the hole.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. F. A. Russell.
