This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Other Information
USS CHAMBERS earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the European-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal w/ 1 Battle star, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Ensign Russell Franklyn Chambers, USNR (10 June 1914 - 28 December 1942)
Chambers was appointed Aviation Cadet, USNR, December 5 1938 and commissioned Ensign November 4 1939. On duty in the Philippines when the United States entered World War II, Ensign Chambers was reported missing in action December 27 1941 after an engagement with the enemy over Jolo. He was officially declared dead December 28 1942.
The ships sponsor was Mrs. R. F. Chambers.
