USS NAHANT earned the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Named in honor of the monitor of that name that served in the Civil War.
The ships sponsor was Mrs. Hazel H. Childs.
Three ships of the US Navy have borne the name NAHANT - USS Nahant (1862 Monitor), USS Nahant SP-1250 and USS Nahant AN-83.
