Other Information

USS KANAWHA earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the World War I Victory Medal (with Transport clasp), the American Defense Service Medal (with Fleet clasp), the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 1 Battle star) and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A river in southwest West Virginia formed by the confluence of the New and Gauley Rivers at Gauley Bridge, WV
