Other Information
USS SALT LAKE CITY earned the Navy Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the American Defense Service Medal w/Fleet Clasp, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 11 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Medal during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Salt Lake City, Utah which has served successively as the capital of the Provisional State of Deseret, the Territory of Utah, and the 45th state.
Two ships of the US Navy have honored this city, USS Salt Lake City CL/CA-25 and USS Salt Lake City SSN-716.
