Owned and operated by Culliford & Clark of West Sunniside, Sunderland, England
Ran ashore and abandoned on 15 Apr 1894 on Alacrane Beach, a guano island in the Gulf of Mexico
Ultimately towed to New York but sank in the harbor
Sold by the United States marshal to Mr. Lewis Luckenbach of New York and restored
Purchased by US Navy 16 April 1898 and converted to a Collier

Commissioned 2 May 1898 - Decommissioned 18 February 1899
Converted to Prison Ship

Placed In Service 6 April 1902

Postmarks

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.
