NAMESAKE - Named for the State of Minnesota.

The ships sponsor was Miss Rose Marie Schaller.

Three ships of the US Navy have borne the name MINNESOTA - USS Minnesota (1855 Steam Frigate), USS Minnesota BB-22 and USS Minnesota SSN-783.
