USS RUTLAND earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia Clasp) during her Naval career.

USS RUTLAND APA-192 was at Tokyo Bay September 2 1945 for the Japanese surrender.

NAMESAKE - Named for a county in west-central Vermont.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Karl V. Kilgore.
