Ship Name and Designation History

This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

    Keel Laid 24 April 1944 - Launched 20 July 1944
    Delivered to the WSA 18 September 1944

    Placed in operation as SS Haiti Victory under charter by Waterman Steamship Co.
    Returned to the Maritime Administration 9 January 1948

    Acquired by the US Army Transportation Command 14 April 1948

    Acquired by the US Navy 1 March 1950 and placed in service

    Reclassified and converted to a Missile Range Instrumentation Ship (T-AGM-3) 27 November 1960

    Renamed January 1961
    Placed out of service, date unknown

    Struck from the Naval Register date unknown
    Transferred to the Maritime Administration (MARAD) 4 November 1974
    Final Disposition - sold for scrapping 27 April 1976

Naval Covers

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.
