Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information

MULLANY received seven battle stars for World War II

NAMESAKE - Robert Madison Mullany (October 26 1818 - September 17 1887)
Mullany was appointed midshipman January 7 1832 and took part in the capture of Tobasco during the Mexican War. He served with the North Atlantic and West Gulf Blockading Squadrons during the Civil War, and received the thanks of Congress for gallantry in the Battle of Mobile Bay, where he lost an arm. As Rear Admiral he commanded the North Atlantic Station (1874-75), protecting American interests on the Isthmus of Panama. He died at Bryn Mawr, Pa., September 17 1887
