A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information

USS CATAWBA earned the following awards during her Naval career - American Campaign Medal - Asiatic -Pacific Campaign Medal - World War II Victory Medal - National Defense Service Medal.

NAMESAKE - A river in North Carolina.

Five ships of the US Navy have been named CATAWBA - USS Catawba (Monitor 1865), USS Catawba YT-32, USS Catawba ATA-210 and USNS Catawba T-ATF-168.
A fifth ship named CATAWBA (AT-68) was renamed ARAPAHO August 5 1941 prior to her launching.
