Other Information

USS PARROTT earned two battle stars for her service in World War II.

NAMESAKE - Lt. George Fountain Parrott, USN (23 December 1887 – 9 October 1918).
Born at Falling Creek, North Carolina, Parrott was appointed Midshipman 3 July 1906 and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, class of 1911. Attached to USS Shaw (DD–68) in the English Channel, when, on convoy duty, that destroyer was cut in two by British troopship "Aquitania" while pursuing a German submarine. Lt. Parrott was killed during the accident.
