Historical Data

Organized: July 30, 1934 (Bulletins No. 44 & 45) as Oregon Chapter with 16 charter members. The date at which the full name was adopted is not recorded. A predecessor group was also known by the name of Battleship Oregon - Edward E. Bryan lists himself as Cachet Director on an Oct 26, 1933 cover with RS cachet issued for 40 Anniversary of launch of USS Oregon. Chapter apparently ceased their operations in 1938. The May 1965 USCS Log (page 2) mentioned an attempt to reorganize the USS Oregon Chapter but without details.
