USS FANSHAW BAY earned the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 5 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ "Asia" clasp, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named Fanshaw Bay for a bight that extends SW 3 miles from Whitney Island to Cape Fanshaw, 66 miles E of Sitka, Alaska.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. J. L. Kenworthy, Jr.
