Other Information

USS GLOUCESTER earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with seven battle stars, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal (Korea) during her US Naval career.

NAMESAKE - The city and port of Gloucester, MA.

There have been two ships of the US Navy that have borne the name GLOUCESTER - USS Gloucester (1891 Gunboat) and USS Gloucester PF-22.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Emily K. Ross.
