Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

Other Information

NAMESAKE - Rear Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan, USN (September 27 1840 – December 1 1914).
Mahan was a United States Navy officer, geostrategist, and educator.

Four ships of the US Navy have been named MAHAN in his honor - USS Mahan DD-102/DM-7, USS Mahan DD-364, USS Mahan DLG-11/DDG-42 and USS Mahan DDG-72.
