Return to USS SPERRY AS-12 Main Page
Covers should be listed in chronological order. Use the postmark date or best guess.
Each entry provides a link to the image of the front of the cover. There is also
the option to have a link to the image of the back of the cover if there is anything
of significance there. Finally, there is the primary date for the cover and the
classification types for all postmarks based on the Locy System.

Rubber stamp cachet. From a former crewmember - "On 1 MAY 82 Postal Service operations transferred to the USS McKee on the adjacent pier. Sperry covers were still in use; however mail service was limited to a drop box on the quarterdeck. Our PC would hold a Departmental Mail Call daily on the Quarter Deck to distribute incoming mail delivered to him aboard McKee. Department mail POs would then deliver to respective divisions."
