MULIPHEN earned two battle stars for World War II service
* Iwo Jima operation
Assault and occupation of Iwo Jima, February 19 to March 4 1945
* Okinawa Gunto operation
Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 1-11 1945

MULIPHEN received the following awards during her Naval career: American Campaign Medal - Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 2 Battle stars) - World War II Victory Medal - Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp) - National Defense Service Medal - Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

NAMESAKE - A star in constellation Canis Major.
