Naval Covers

USS SALAMONIE earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the China Service Medal, the American Defense Service Medal w/ "A" device, the American Campaign Medal, the Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ Asia and Europe clasps, the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2 awards), the Philippines Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Philippines Liberation Medal (2 awards) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A river in Jay County, Indiana; tributary of the Wabash River.
