Other Information

USS EDMONDS earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 4 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal w/ star, the Korean Service Medal w/ 1 Battle star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal w/ 1 star, the Philippine Liberation Medal w/ 1 star, the United Nations Korean Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Aviation Ordnanceman First Class Bert C. Edmonds, USN (March 21, 1919 - October 16, 1942)
Edmonds enlisted in the Navy September 11, 1937 and was killed in action in the Solomons October 16, 1942. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star Medal for his heroism while serving with Torpedo Squadron 8 in the Solomons.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Faith Edmonds Campbell, mother of Aviation Ordnanceman Edmonds.
