Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

CHARLES J. BADGER earned 5 Battle Stars (WWII)

NAMESAKE - Charles Johnston Badger USN (August 6 1853 – September 7 1932)
Badger was an Admiral in the United States Navy. His active-duty career included service in the Spanish-American War and World War I. The son of Commodore Oscar C. Badger (1823–1899). He attended the United States Naval Academy, graduating in 1873. Badger served in USS CINCINNATI C-7 during the Spanish-American War, and climaxed his career as Commander in Chief, Atlantic Fleet. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for his contribution as chairman of the Navy General Board during World War I. Rear Admiral Badger died September 7 1932 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. R.Adm. Badger was a cousin of Secretary of the Navy George E. Badger (1790–1865); Admiral Oscar C. Badger II (1890–1958) was his son
