Other Information

USS POINT CRUZ earned the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ "Asia" clasp, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korean Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - "Trocadero Bay" A strait in the eastern part of Bucareli Bay in the Prince of Wales archipelago of Alaska.

NAMESAKE - "Point Cruz" A decisive land battle fought November 7-10 1942 on Guadalcanal, British Solomon Islands.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Earl R. DeLong.
