Other Information

USS BRADFORD earned the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 12 Battle Stars, the WWII Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal w/ 6 Battle Stars during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Captain Gamaliel Bradford, Privateersman, (4 November 1768 - 7 March 1864)
Bradford commanded the American private armed ship MARY in 1799. In July 1800 in command of INDUSTRY, he routed four French privateers at Gibraltar. Captain Bradford died at Cambridge, Mass., 7 March 1824.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Sarah Bradford Rose, great-great-granddaughter of Captain Bradford.
