Naval Covers

Other Information

USS BOISE earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the American Defense Service Medal w/Fleet Clasp, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 9 Battle stars, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the Philippine Defense Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal (2 awards) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Boise, Idaho.

Two ships of the US Navy have been named BOISE - USS Boise CL-47 and USS Boise SSN-764.

The ships sponsor was Miss Salome Clark, daughter of the governor of Idaho. The ship was christened with water from Idaho's Snake River.
